This series of drawings offers a subjective and caustic graphic interpretation of several events from the news of 2016, seen through the prism of the practice of the selfie. It plastically questions the typologies of images conveyed on the one hand by mass media, and on the other hand by social networks.
In this corpus, the general systematically confronts the particular. The staging of shocking or tragic collective events comes up against the vanity of self-representation.
The images produced show a tensioning of visual elements that are often disturbing, and sometimes contradictory.
The drawing unites all of these iconographic sources in a (visually) coherent way, thus allowing it to act as a revealer.
As Picasso liked to point out, art is a lie that tells the truth.
